- Great, welcome to lesson two. In lesson one, we talked about you. Enough about you. Let's talk about who you're talking to. So the question is, who is your audience? How do you define who you're talking to? Now this one is, again, really, really important because not all stories are going to appeal to the same people. I learned this lesson the hard way. I remember it was about, it was the first week of a job I took that was director of fundraising for a homeless service organization, and one of the first things I had to do was present to the board. So I went in and I was, like, 28 years old, super cocky, and I'd just come from an organization that was dominated by the entertainment industry.
