Creating pages

- There's one more major structural element that we need to add to our book and that's to add some pages. Adding a page is exactly like adding a chapter or a section. You simply come up to the plus icon for Add Pages in the upper left hand corner of your toolbar, select Pages, and then you can choose from any of the different available templates. I'm going to choose the 2 Column layout. A new page is added for me with some filler text. As before, I've included in the exercise files a text file, this time called Backpack Text.txt. If you need to, go ahead and pause the video and copy the text. Go ahead and select all the text, copy it to your clipboard using cmd+C, then come back to iBooks Author, select the filler text, and press cmd+V to paste the text in. Now the text came in with no formatting at all and we notice that we've got a couple of headers here and we've got a block quote that we need to format. So to add some formatting to these, I'm going to use the Styles tools. Now my favorite way to use the Styles is to go up to the View menu and come down to the bottom where I can select Customize Toolbar. Then, take the Style tool and click and drag it up to your toolbar. I like to place mine up here next to the text box where it's easy to get at. Go ahead and click the done button, select Backcountry Adventures, go up to the Style menu, and scroll down until you find Heading 1. Do the same thing for Walking Among Giants, and Hiking in the Stars. For the first paragraph of text, we'll simply select the first paragraph, go back up to Style, and select Block Quote. Now the default style for this has a little bit of extra space in between the lines. While this block quote is still selected, simply come up to the line spacing adjustment, click the drop-down, and choose 1.1. That'll tighten that text up just a little bit and make it a little bit nicer to read. The new page is looking pretty good, but we should probably add some images to this page to add some visual interest to the documents and we'll do that in the next movie.
