- I've heard from a lot of designers that say they want to create their own custom layouts and their own custom templates, completely from scratch, and they don't want to have any of the extra design elements that are included in the provided layouts. I'm happy to say that Apple has heard our call and now provides us with blank templates for the Landscape, Portrait, and ePub layouts. Let's have a look at the Portrait blank layout. All blank layouts contain all the core elements that we need to design our books from scratch, such as a book title and table of contents page. If we reveal the layouts, we can see that we have layouts for chapters, sections, and pages. If you select on a layout, then click on an element on the page, and select All, you can see that we have titles for each page, page numbers, and linked textboxes. We'll use this template in a later movie when we import an in designed layout, since we'll need these linked textboxes to flow our text into. If you open up the…
