- Apple ships iBooks Author with a variety of different templates to get you up and running with your book right away. And we've already had a look at those templates in a previous movie, but in this movie I'd like to take a deep dive into all the component elements that make up a template. If you want to follow along with me, I've got just a blank, contemporary template opened up on-screen. Templates are all composed of three major types of layouts, and we've seen these before. The three types of layouts are chapters, sections and pages. All templates also have a variety of predefined styles for all of the text elements, and you can access the styles by hitting the little Styles button here on the toolbar, and you'll have a sidebar that'll pull out that'll show you all the different paragraph styles, character styles, and list styles that are used throughout the template.
