- [Instructor] In this week's Monday Productivity Pointers, I want to show you how to set up a shortcut button to immediately shutdown or restart Windows. This can give you a one-click alternative for turning your Windows computer off. Just start by right-clicking anywhere on the empty desktop. From this menu go to New, then choose Shortcut, and we'll use this shortcut to activate a basic command in Windows. This command is Shutdown, so I'm just going to type that here in this field, but there's a little bit more to it. We're going to add two extra parameters. I'm going to put in a space. Then if you want the button to shut your computer down, add slash S or if you want the button to restart your computer, add slash R instead, but I want it to shut down the computer so I'm going to change this to slash S.
