- My name is Jess Stratton, and welcome to Monday Productivity Pointers. This week, I'm going to talk about a little known secret in Gmail. That is the ability to add special characters to your email address. And the reason for this, is to that you can filter on it, or search for it. Let me give you an example of when this could be useful. Let's suppose I was a vendor at a local COMICON convention. I gave out my email address to a lot of potential customers. As we all know, it's not cheap to have a table there. And so, I want to know how many leads I got to know if it's worth doing again next year. But here's the problem, I can't guarantee that any email inquiries that come in will tell me that they were at COMICON, unless they specifically say so.
