Black and white shooting
- Photography started, of course, as a black and white only media and you didn't see color until decades into the development of photographic technology, and your phone camera can still shoot black and white photos, or you can shoot color and convert to black and white later. I'll be honest, I mostly work in black and white, I find it actually much easier, color is hard for me. What I like about black and white is that it's less information. A scene like this, there's a lot going on, there's lines, and there's shapes, and there's texture, and then when you throw color on top of that, it's just a lot to process. If I strip the color out, the image becomes entirely about line and form. Now, when I'm walking through the world, I'm not seeing it in black and white, I can't pre-visualize in black and white, I live in a color world just the way you do, but I can recognize situations that might lend themselves well to…
