- Hi, I'm Sean Duggan, and for this episode of Mobile Photography Weekly, we're heading out on the highway and into some wide-open spaces to explore some essential tips for shooting time-lapse clips on a road trip. I've covered tripod-mounted time lapses before, where the world was passing by in front of the camera. This week we'll take a look at filming a time lapse from inside a car that's driving through the landscape. Now to safely take photos, videos, and time-lapse sequences while driving, you do need to get a dashboard or a windshield mount for your phone. When shopping for a camera-mount device for the car, take the range of motion of the mount into consideration. Will it allow for flexible camera placement? And if you want to shoot in a horizontal orientation for videos or time-lapse clips, which of course is the standard way that that would be done, make sure that the mount allows for this position.
