Horizontal, vertical, or square?
- Hi, I'm Sean Dugen. You know, one of the most fundamental questions that you're faced with every time you raise your camera phone or any camera for that matter. Up to make a photograph is should you frame the scene as a horizontal, a vertical or perhaps a square might work best. This one on Mobile Photography Weekly. We're going to ponder that question and take a look at some photographs to evaluate which scenes or compositions work best in a particular orientation. And let's start with this scene of the waterfall in Iceland. Let's go back to the beginning. And of course, as a landscape it lends itself very well to a horizontal orientation which is a classic format for landscapes. But, I think it also works well as a vertical. Particularly because of the golden grasses in a V-shape down in the lower part of the image. It kind of mimics the V-shape of the hillside in the background. And as a square it also works.…
