What you should already know
There are a few concepts that you should probably already be familiar with before you start learning about jQuery Mobile. The first, obviously, is HTML5 and CSS because we're going to be building web applications for mobile devices, and HTML and CSS are part of the core bedrock of any web application. Lynda.com has some really great courses on these subjects. So, if you're not yet familiar with these, or you just need to brush up, go take a look at some of the courses here that teach these subjects. Of course, you'll also need to know JavaScript because JavaScript is what provides the logic for any application. And if you're not familiar with JavaScript or you need to brush up on it, take a look at JavaScript Essential Training right here on lynda.com. You might also want to familiarize yourself with some of the design fundamentals behind mobile web apps. I have a course here on lynda.com called just this, Mobile Web Fundamentals. So, go take a look at that course if you feel like you need to brush up on what it means to build a mobile application. And finally, it helps to be familiar with jQuery because jQuery Mobile is built on top of the jQuery library. So, if you're not familiar with jQuery or again, if you just want to brush up on it, go take a look at the course that I have here on lynda.com called jQuery Essential Training. Okay, once you feel comfortable that you've got the prerequisites in place, we can started with jQuery Mobile.
