- Hi. I'm Joe Marini. Welcome to Up and Running with jQuery UI. In this course, I'm going to introduce you to jQuery UI, a companion library to jQuery. jQuery UI provides a very robust and rich set of user interface controls and behaviors for building highly interactive and polished web applications. It's free, open-source, and works across platforms and browsers. We'll start off by examining the feature set of jQuery UI and how it's organized into widgets, effects, and behaviors. Then, we'll dive right in to the basic jQuery UI control set to see how you can dress up your web applications with some great, easy to use controls, like the Accordion and the Selectmenu. Next, we'll take a look at some more advanced controls, like the Dialog Widget and the Datepicker. Two controls that you see in almost every modern web app today. We'll also see how to add behavioral elements to your apps, such as drag and drop, re-sizable elements, and smooth CSS animations. Then, we'll wrap up with examination of the jQuery ThemeRoller tool, which provides an easy way to build your own visual themes. Let's get started learning how to use all the great controls it provides in Up and Running with jQuery UI.
